The MOD currently has a build programme in the region of 650,000 tons of shipping including two aircraft carriers, a casualty receiving ship, 12 new ships for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, 3 Astute submarines and 6 type 45 Destroyers, most of which are to be built in the UK in modular sections.

The NDI promotes the benefits of collaborative working to enhance the prospect of engaging with the MOD to bid for large scale military contracts by forming a cohesive supply chain cluster. Companies within Team Humber Marine Alliance (THMA) will be capable of bidding for 2nd and 3rd tier contracts and subcontracts on these projects.

Hull Development and Renewal Services has negotiated, group membership of the NDI on behalf of the smaller THMA companies (turnover up to 1million). Membership will be administered by Hull Development and Renewal Services but the day to day dissemination of information will be handled by the NDI, with companies receiving full membership entitlement.
