With over 700 years of maritime heritage the City of Kingston
upon Hull is a vi brant
place to live and work. The city’s heritage has been preserved
and restored with pride. The Old Town boasts numerous historic
buildings , whilst the modern town centre has extensive retail, culture and
leisure facilities, the latest of which is the award winning visitor
centre ‘The Deep’ where the world’s oceans can
be explored.
The City has also seen substantial recent investment in luxury
apartments and housing reflecting the City’s vibrancy and
sophistication.
Currently underway, the £160million development of Ferensway
named St Stephens will transform the city centre. The 40 acre site
comprises a new state of the art integrated transport interchange
with a shopping and leisure complex and will incorporate a hotel and
residential quarter.
TRANSPORT
Road
Uncongested motorway networks bring most major UK cities within
a 4 hour drive. The City and Port of Hull occupies a key central
position on the E20 European
transport axis, which links Limerick in South-West Ireland via Dublin and the port of Hull as far as St Peterburg in Russia.
Rail
High speed trains link Hull with London and there are fast rail
services to other major centres in the North, Midlands and Scotland
enabling speedy access for both passengers and freight.
For the transportation of goods, modern rail freight operations
are adjacent to the port and industrial areas offering a variety
of transmodal services. 
Air
Just 25 minutes drive from Hull, Humberside International Airport
has a good network of services including 3 daily flights to and
from Amsterdam’s Schipol airport, many of which connect with
flights to virtually every European and intercontinental destination. A further
option is provided by Robin Hood Doncaster-Sheffield Internatinal Airport offering
a range of scheduled, low-cost, holiday charter flights and cargo services. |
